Spectrum Fantastic Art Live 3 is a little over 60 days away and the excitement is building. For $40 for a 3-day weekend or $20 for a single day pass you can see the work from over 200 artists who work in the realm of the fantastic. From Comic Book and Collectible Card Gaming to Book Cover Illustration and Fine Art, there will be a wide range of two-dimensional and three-dimensional art on display, as well as live painting and sculpture, educational opportunities, portfolio reviews and so much more.

As a way to tempt you to attend, and for me to show some love to those artists taking the time to come to Kansas City, Missouri this May, I will be showcasing the work of those artists who are currently signed up to attend. I will be doing so alphabetically, by first name, from the Exhibitor list on the SFAL website.

I offer the art without comment, as it can speak well enough for itself. Under each piece is the name of the artist and a link to their respective website.

Sit back, and enjoy!

    1. Thanks John! I’m getting some inquiries out for SF Signal features now as well. 🙂

  1. What looks interesting on the first glimpse: Aaron Miller, Adam Schumpert, Allen Williams (the beast), Annie Steg and Autumn Friederikson. Abigail Larson really stands out, very nice. Tho I’d probably choose another image.

Arkady Roitman’s image feels too similar to Adam Schumpert’s and the latter is much better.

Some images just scream “I’ve got nothing to do with fantasy”. 😉

    1. I had a hard time choosing which Annie Stegg image to use. I like her work very much, and on top of that she is a really sweet person.

The Allen Williams will show up again in my April Cover Story post as it is the cover for a novel called Unwrapped Sky.

The one “new to me” discovery that I am excited about is Abigail Larson. I like that style of work and she had several great pieces on her site. Really look forward to meeting her in May.

The art at Spectrum is classified as “fantastic” as opposed to “fantasy” because it goes across the science fiction, horror, fantasy spectrum. It is pretty broad, which makes for an interesting show as there is work there to appeal to many tastes.

      1. For example: Amber Chen’s image has nothing to do with anything fantastic. Quite a common real life image. Ashley Corbello, the same. Etc.

        Have fun.

        1. I don’t know that I would entirely agree with that, but part of that feeling is probably more about the image I chose to feature. If you look at Amber Chen’s illustration portfolio there is a lot of fantasy/fantastic art there:

And for Ashely Corbello the female character is Psylocke from the Cybeforce comic series. I just couldn’t find a decent sized image grab online with just that character.

  2. Fantastic stuff. Have a great time. I’m so excited for you and slightly jealous to be honest.

    1. Looking forward to it again this year. Wish you and your husband could pop back over to the states and be a part of it.
