The frequent rain and unseasonably cool mornings and evenings have caused my internal calendar to go all wonky and now more than ever I am emotionally convinced that autumn has arrived. It doesn’t matter what my senses tell me, my heart has entered fall mode. I have had the hardest time over the last month not falling into full-on autumnal Lord of the Rings mode as well. While I have resisted actually watching the extended editions in their entirety, I have once again been sampling the extras, listening to Enya (her lovely melancholic voice will forever be associated with Lord of the Rings for me), and journeying around the internet searching for Lord of the Rings news and images to satisfy my yearnings.
I decided that if I was this miserable (I say, tongue firmly planted in cheek), then you ought to be as well. And though it is not yet November (my LOTR month), step into the future with me and take a look at some wonderful new Lord of the Rings treasures.

A Hole is to Dig ~Ruth Krauss, illustrated by Maurice Sendak

In cleaning out my basement for recent garage sales I started going through my piles of saved magazines to determine which to keep, which to toss, and which to donate to my work for group art therapy projects. While doing so I came across a one page article in Decor magazine, I believe, in which an architect was listing 12 favorite things. One showed the cover of this book and I was immediately intrigued. It had illustrations by Maurice Sendak so it is a no-brainer why I was drawn to it. I came right upstairs, got on the computer, and put a hold on it at my local library.
I picked it up yesterday afternoon and both Mary and I read it and talked about it last night.
It is a wonderful little treasure.

I am never one to shy away from telling a funny story, especially when I am the butt of the joke.
This time I mean that literally.
(Warning: This post is not for the faint of heart. Do not take with food or on a full stomach. Do not swim for at least 30 minutes after reading. And for gosh sakes don’t blame me…I did warn you after all!)

My friend Harry over at Temple Library Reviews has fairly recently begun a feature that he calls Reviewer Time. As Harry describes it: “You can review a whole lot of things with intellectual value, starting from books and then moving to all other forms of fiction, comic books, movies, albums and TV shows. But I have yet to encounter an extensive review of a review blog…”.
Over the course of this feature he has interviewed some top-notch blogs, including Fantasy Book Critic and A Dribble of Ink. This weekend Harry put some questions to me and my Reviewer Time interview is now up at his site, here.
It was a great honor to be chosen, especially among such great company, and it would make me very happy indeed if you would go over to Harry’s site and check out my interview. Please comment over there as well. And while you are visiting, look around. Harry has a pretty neat site.
Thanks Harry, it was a great deal of fun and I do appreciate the honor.
