Oh Happy Day!

(Sorry for the old picture Tom!)

Inside every older person is a younger person –
wondering what the hell happened.

~Cora Harvey Armstrong

I love having a November Birthday. Its close enough to Christmas that I get presents two months in a row but far enough away that it doesn’t get wrapped up in Christmas! It is definitely a cool month. And why wouldn’t it be? I share the month with my favorite author:

(Neil Gaiman, November 10th)

the amazing (especially in Stranger Than Fiction) Maggie Gyllenhaal:

(November 16th)

and one of my favorite romantic comedy actresses:

(November 19th)

And of course I share my day with classic scream queen beauty Ingrid Pitt:

and with Jena Malone, who was outstanding in Donnie Darko and utterly annoying (which is exactly what the part calls for) in Pride and Prejudice:

And with one of my favorite quarterbacks of all time:

(Troy Aikman)

Actually I have always thought being born on the 21st, the final Scorpio day, was perfect. That is until I realized the other day that Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22nd.

I wish her parents would’ve had slightly better timing!

When I was younger, I could remember anything, whether it happened or not.
~Mark Twain

And of course any month that ends with birthdays for Billy Idol and Mark Twain can’t be all bad!

Well, Happy Birthday to me! And to anyone else who may happen to share this wonderful day of entrance into life! I want to take this moment to thank everyone who was encouraging in my last post. The past few weeks of work make being off to celebrate today just that much more sweet. Glad to know I’m not the only one who has bad days…or weeks! Hopefully now posting can get back to some sort of normalcy! There’s a review of the new Bond film on the way and we are just days away from the Christmas Challenge! Have a wonderful day everyone, I know I will:

(Something fun I whipped up for the family for today’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy event! I’m so excited!!!)

  5. Happy birthday! 🙂 (I agree, November’s a splendid time for a birthday – mine’s in January, which is also suitably far from Christmas to result in two parties and two presents – from the generous – but is generally rather bleaker and nastier, weatherwise. Alas. 🙂 )

  10. Happy Birthday! I was sick the weekend before last and inspired by you I decided that watching the Extended Version of the Trilogy was just the ticket!! 13. Have a Happy Birthday!

Mine is coming up (December 1st) and I feel the same way about having it close enough to the holidays, but not too close. 🙂

  14. Carl, you’re missing the big party over here. I guess you’ll have to meet my wife next year. 🙁

  15. “Happy birthday, happy birthday, whoop-dee-do, whoop-dee-do! Hope your day is pleasant, open up your presents, just for you, just for you!”

  16. Let me extend first a personal, heartfelt “thank you” to my wife and daughter for making my day so special. I have never watched all three extended editions in a row and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. We had excellent meals and snacks and I really enjoyed the day. We started a bit late, at around 9:45 a.m. the 21st and finished up at 12:11 a.m. today, the 22nd. I feel elated and melancholy, the way I always do when I watch these films. It turned out to be a Peter Jackson birthday in more ways than one as I got the extended edition of King Kong as one of my birthday presents! Looking forward to watching that one.

I would like to continue my “thank you’s” to all of you who have or will comment on this post. The birthday well wishes are very, very much appreciated and each really means alot to me, thanks. You are all terrific and I wish each and every one of you as glorious a birthday as I’ve just experienced. Though it may seem a frivilous way to spend a day it was in fact quite healing and much needed. Thanks again everyone, you made my day.

  17. I really enjoyed the day too. I was sorry not to get to meet Sarah. 🙁

I must say that Carl had to wake me up several times between 10:30 and midnight!

  18. Hey, happy birthday man!

I forgot to call you again at 9pm and disturb your day once again.

    Oh well, maybe next year.

  19. I’ve only just had time to properly read your luscious blog, and am wishing you a belated birthday! You share your month with me (I’m the 12th).

  20. Thanks LC, and happy belated Nov. birthday. Glad to share the month with you…we Nov. birthdays are the best, of course! 😉
