This Week Bites

See that guy? The one with the wings? Yeah, I’ve been digesting in his stomach all week. Fun stuff. Its called work. Hey kids, unemployment isn’t always a bad thing. I’ll be back once I’ve been regurgitated. Until then, think happy thoughts.

Stranger Than Fiction

A large part of the appeal of the recent literature phenomenon, The Thirteenth Tale, is the fact that it is a book written for book lovers. As Stranger Than Fiction came to a close I realized that there is much of the same in this film. Will Ferrell’s latest finds him playing the character Harold Crick, who is himself a character in Kay Eiffel’s (Emma Thompson) new novel. The early humor in the film comes as Harold discovers the voice of the narrator in his head and comes to realize just who he is. Thursday Thoughts

Actually this is more of a catch up on all the odds and ends of things that I have been meaning to post and haven’t gotten to. And so, in no particular order:

This is the image I was greeted with on November 1st when I arrived at work and turned over the page of my Frank Frazetta calendar. If you don’t know who Frazetta is or if you’re curious about just how geeked I can get over someone, please go here, here, and here for my ravings. This was a gift at Christmas and each month it is a thrill to see what the next image is. I particularly like this one, the cover of Death Dealer V, because the colors are very autumnal and because it reminds me of The Lord of the Rings. This being month one of two for my annual LOTR obsessing, I found this image extremely gratifying and enjoy looking at it every time it catches my eye.
