A Little Inspiration, and a Book Giveaway

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
~Ursula K. LeGuin

And to that journey we must now return. The Once Upon a Time Challenge is entering the home stretch. A little less than one month remains in the challenge and in that time there remains many a prize to win: The Gaiman Prize Pack, The O.U.a T. Grand Prize (both mentioned here), and of course the Tiny Stories Contest.

Star Wars Wrap Up

Three Decades! I can hardly believe it has been that long ago…that far, far away…

This past week I stepped away from the Once Upon a Time Challenge related posts to do my small part to honor a film (a set of films, really) whose universe has woven itself into the fabric of my existence. I didn’t know what the response would be, but I am happy to say that it was out of this world. Those four Star Wars posts generated some of the best participation of anything I have ever posted. I so appreciate the heart felt memories and opinions that each of you shared. Great job, you all deserve prizes.

Unfortunately, like our most beloved Wookie at the end of Star Wars, only two of you are going home with a medal. That’s right, I said two. The participation was so good that I went out last week and bought another set of the magazines and drug a few more Star Wars related items up from the basement to give a small second prize away.

You cannot make up your own mind. The latest in a string of sheep insults comes from Kansas City Star critic Robert Butler. He concludes his eviscerating review of Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End with the words:

“Can you say “Baaaaaaa?”

Friday Favorites: The Art of Star Wars

Happy 30th Anniversary, Star Wars!

It feels like forever since the last time I did an art related Friday Favorites. To make up for that, and to close out this week of Star Wars 30th Anniversary celebration, I want to talk about some of the art of Star Wars. This is by no means a comprehensive look, just a quick overview of some of the things I like.

Thursday Thirteen: Star Wars Style

The Star Wars Anniversary Week posts continue!

One of the many terrific articles in Geek Magazine #4 (the one up for giveaway) is a a one page tribute called: Remember That Part Where…Star Wars Moments That Make us Giddy. They proceed to list several for each film. I really enjoyed this and thought it would make wonderful discussion for today’s post. Though there are undoubtedly many more than thirteen, I will share a baker’s dozen of moments that made me giddy and then you can share some of yours.
