For the second weekend in a row we have had a visit from the Winter Warlock. His gift last weekend was ice, this weekend snow.

The snow began early Saturday morning and continued through the night, blanketing our area with a beautiful coat of white. It encroached upon our plans to see Pan’s Labyrinth, but it was enjoyable nonetheless (Pan’s rescheduled for Wednesday night!!! Woo-hoo!!!).

The weekend was spent both frugally and frivilously. I finished staining the wardrobe that my father built for us for Christmas. Once I get the finish on it I’ll take some pics for the site. I also finished an Asimov, started a Fleming, watched the Saints get mauled by the Bears, watched the Colts gallop to victory, and played some F.E.A.R. Extraction Point on the ol’ PC.

I hope everyone else had a relaxing weekend. What did you do?
It is Monday again. Let the agony ensue.
Watched the Dresden Files & got mad at my neighbors for screaming so loudly while I tried to sleep. It’s cool that our team is going to the Superbowl, but I’d never watch it. And I need my sleep! LOL
How was the Dresden Files….guess I should click over to your site and see if you mentioned it! 😉
Gorgeous photos Carl, I am totally jealous – all we have is wind and rain. No snow at all this year.
I worked over the weekend, watched a film, read some books and chatted to people. Didn’t do too much on account of feeling a bit rough (cold bug doing the rounds).
Sorry Quix, hope you’re feeling better soon.
We watched football, went to see Lewis Black and I attended a Stamp Up! party (think Tupperware for rubber stamps…). We got about 2 inches of snow on Sunday – just enough to keep the dogs entertained.
I’ve been waiting for your snow pictures and they’re wonderful. Where did you take the first one? It looks so pristine. I did boring stuff and fun stuff. Cleaned out my secretary and got all my tax stuff ready. Watched a James Lipton interview of Matt Damon that I had taped. I love his interviews. Read almost all of a cool book and baked myself some cookies. And now I am happily off to work so I can talk to people with faces.
Those pictures are beautiful!!! I love fluffy white snow (for about 20 minutes and then I’m wishing it was Summer again). I saw Eragon and recommend it except make sure all thoughts of Hobbits are out of your head and then it is a fabulous movie!
Pat, I took that first picture on the way home from Sunrise House on Sunday morning on some back roads that I take between there and home.
I watched the beginning of that Lipton interview and was really enjoying it, wish I could’ve seen the rest.
Thanks Heather. I wasn’t very impressed with Eragon, not sure how much LOTR had to do with it. Overall I think the film was too short, was too choppy during the first half, and the film makers needed to make a better effort not to copy other films. I’m glad I saw it in the theatre but just wasn’t impressed.
Love your wintery photos, Carl! Especially the first one. I have to say that I am tired of old man winter. At least the kiddos are back to school today. We are getting cabin fever.
We got snow, too. Third storm in one month. Amazing! I think we got about 6″ of the wet heavy stuff. Perfect for a cozy Sunday. I’ll post pics of the snow and supper later today. Stay warm!
Too bad you didn’t get out to see Pan’s Labyrinth. But wow, those pics are beautiful. We just got tons of rain on Saturday but Sunday was absolutely perfect.
ahhhh, snow. I miss it from time to time, but NOT the frigid cold LOL
That was what was so nice about this one in that it wasn’t frigid cold. There wasn’t really any wind to speak of and it was actually a nice good cold outside.
Sheesh…I caught a chill just looking at your pictures! I’m still finishing up my weekend, getting caught up with Jack Bauer and with housework.
Pretty! Photos of snowy cemeteries need a good ghost story to go with them, I always think…
I didn’t do a lot this weekend either…like Quixotic, I was unwell (stomach flu. Bleh!)
I think you’ll probably like Pan’s Labyrinth when you get round to going. 🙂 The anticipation’s half the fun, right?
It is half the fun RB, as long as the other half results in seeing the film! 😉
I’ve heard good things about 24 this season, Suzanne!
Man, I do love me some snow. Cool to see you guys got dumped on too. But bummer you missed Pan! I’m looking forward to that one.
That’s okay, I’ll enjoy it when we see it on Wed. night.
I read a great review of Pan’s Labyrinth. I’ll be anxiously awaiting yours.
I also was bummed we missed out on Pan’s Saturday night. I’m looking forward to seeing it wedensday though. This weekend I caught up on some tv, watched some awful football and turned it off right before the colts came back argh! Keri, the kids, and I had a great time Sunday sledding, building a snowman, and having a fun snow ball fight. perfect snow for snowballs. 🙂 Our kids also had their first basketball games this weekend which were a lot of fun. we turned in Zach’s pinewood car for inspection for next weekend’s derby. These boy scout are WAY to serious about this stuff but my son and I had a great time building his car which is the important part. All in All a wonderful snowy weekend.
Yes…no cheating in the ol’ Pinewood Derby!!! Can’t believe you gave up on the Colts, oh ye of little faith. That last quarter was some of the best football of the post season!
Well I’m sure you’ll enjoy Pan, whenever you get to it. We’ve been having it a little more wintery here too, but no snow. At least none that I’ve seen.
No offense, Carl, but I’ll take this beautiful snow scene over a science fiction drawing any day. It’s very beautiful. I will always be a Northern Girl who loves the snow. I just returned from Naples, FL where everyone rejoices for the humidity, I mean warmth. Yick! I couldn’t wait to get back to Chicago.
I’m not a big fan of heat and humidity. I would rather deal with snow on the ground than hot and sticky summer days. Their appeal was lost on me once my childhood ended. I prefer winter, spring, and fall!
Great snow pictures! The Colts game was pretty fun to watch.
Love the yellow in the first pic 🙂
Thanks Janet, didn’t plan it that way but I really liked it to when I downloaded the picture from my camera.
Almost all the snow is gone now, but its colder than a w.t. here!
