Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated, and yet it feels like I am being resurrected rather than just returning. A four day vacation followed by essentially working two jobs all week (three if you count the fact that my assistant director is on vacation) has left me tired and uninspired. But I miss you all greatly and so I am back.
In leiu of a Friday Favorite this week I just wanted to drop by and say “hello” and to assure you that this weekend will find me catching up on all the wonderful blog posts I missed over the past week. I also wanted to let you know that the Tiny Stories results are in from our judges, so next week all of you will have the privilege that myself and my wife, and Scott and Colleen, have already had, and that is to read all the great entries into this contest. Of course I will also announce a winner!
Next week will also see my entry or two in a wonderful contest that Deslily is hosting…more about this next week…as well as a plethora of reviews, some freebies that you simply must sign up for, and a return to Friday Favorites.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! And give yourself a pat on the back if you know what amazing classic of English Literature the title of this post hails from.
Welcome back. Was wondering why your blog has been kind of quiet lately. I did wonder if you were on holiday or something.
I was just about to ask when we’d get to see the Tiny Stories. looking forward to seeing what people have written.
Yes!!! You’re back! I missed you 🙂
Guess what I saw last night? Stardust!
Janet! I’m so jealous. Please tell what did you think of it?
Carl, the next time we chat please tell your unlearnered friend what amazing classic I need to read.
Just as I was starting to worry…
Oh Janet, you suck! 😉 Seriously I am happy for you…and envious as well. And I echo Jeff’s sentiments, is it a ‘yea’ or ‘nay’ review?
If Stardust opened here today I know where I will be tonight. So eager to see that…and hoping they did a good job with it. I finally saw Pan’s Labarinth and I’m looking for- ward to talking about that one with you. I love your header. I’m glad you’re back, you were missed.
I think it’s Michael Jackson’s Thriller, isn’t it? Although I’m not sure about the literary ‘Classic’.
Welcome back Carl! I hope your co-worker returns soon so that you can get back to a normal workload.
I can’t wait to read everyone’s tiny stories, I was hoping they’d be up soon 🙂
Yay! Missed you Carl…I was beginning to worry 😉
Sorry to hear things have been so hectic, but glad to hear that things are slowing down to the point where we can get some more blogging out of you!
Looking forward to everyone’s tiny stories. I need to do my entry for Deslily’s contest too…great idea for a contest there!
Since I didn’t read the book, I can’t tell you if they followed it faithfully. I will say that I absolutely ADORED this movie! DeNiro was great, funny as all get out; Tristan, the star, the witches and most especially the 7 brothers, 4 of whom start off as ghosts were just spectacular.
I’m pretty sure there were MANY in the audience who were HUGE Neil Gaiman fans as there were cheers galore when the theater owner mentioned his name (apparently, he did a reading there at one time).
The audience reaction to the movie was amazing. There was lots of laughter, cheers and clapping.
Great fun, and I bet you guys will love it!
Gosh, I was beginning to think that your blog was giving your big problems! Welcome back! I hope things are back to normal for you soon!
I sorta (wasn’t paying attention) saw the first trailer on tv for Stardust! Plus I just today finished reading the book!..how’s that for timing?!!
Still in florida..not wanting to go back to NJ! But I do need my own computer to get the contest links to where everyone can read them all.
See you (well you know what I mean) soon!
Glad you’re back, Carl! Here’s to hoping things calm down for you real soon… 🙂
Thank you, Janet. I was so pleased to hear what a great reaction the audience had to the movie. I’v read the book twice and can hardly wait for it to open here. Cheers! How cool!
I wondered what happened to you! Glad to have you back.
Actually next Saturday, I’m leaving on vacation for a week!
I was away too, so I didn’t notice! Bad me!
Actually I kind of know what being recalled to life feels like. I’m not planning to do ANYTHING unneccesary this weekend… Hope your recovery proceeds apace.
Welcome back 🙂 I really look forward to reading everyone’s tiny stories!
welcome back! your presence has been sorely missed!
as usual you have some very cool things lined up for your blog. i can’t wait. 🙂
Thank God you’re back. I was ready to send the Venators out to look for you!
Thanks Janet! I can’t wait to see Stardust. It’s my favorite Neil Gaiman book.
I am new to your blog and I just love it. SO happy I came across it by mistake.
I am still working myself back into the grind, so welcome back…
Glad you’re back online! I’m slowly getting back into posting. Looking forward to next week’s offerings!
Wow! It is indeed a busy time when Carl doesn’t blog for almost a week.
No one has guessed where the quote comes from, but it is from a book that Carl has read aloud to me (he is a very good reader/narrator). Here as a hint is a better known quote from the same book:
It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.
wow, mary, i never even knew it was a quote! i had to look up that passage you quoted there.
i’ve never read it, so maybe i can be excused…! but it certainly is one i’d like to read. 🙂
is it a good story?
carl, this post is just like a teaser trailer…! 😀
Hmmm…I think I might disappear for awhile, I’d like to have a venator after me…especially if she was accompanied by Sebastian 😉
This is the hardest time I think I’ve ever had kickstarting myself after a vacation. I’m sure it is mainly because of the extra work I had to do all week. I’m just finally starting to feel like myself again.
