Late night insanity

So, it was late last night and in a round-about way I violated my rule about not posting about religious or political stuff on my blog. I clicked on my link to SciFi Daily and was irked by a post on there and couldn’t help but comment….and away we go! Feel free to indulge in my insanity here. Scroll up for the original post. You can see by how the comments progressed why I don’t like to argue these areas. Makes for an interesting read.

  1. This is honestly why I don’t like to talk about stuff like this. I really get in too deep if I start.

  2. It’s healthy for the most part, Carl.

I have always found that debating my beliefs online help me to understand better what I believe.

Things could get real interesting with my blog because I plan on talking about spritual things a lot. My site used to be Half-Life related so I bet a lot of people will find it. Once I start posting about spiritual things I will get a lot of feedback, I’m sure.

  3. I know, its just always been hard for me to get to deep into conversations with people who have beliefs that are completely opposite mine without getting angry. I find few anti-religious people who are open minded enough to admit that all the things they accuse Christians of are the same things they do themselves. I guess its good practice for times when I get to talk to people who actually do want to have an intelligent conversation and don’t want to just argue to hear themselves talk.

  4. Most of the time what I find is people who argue against the very existence of God do so because the thought of being accountable for their actions to a higher being scares them to death.

  5. it’s hard to not take things personal, when your beliefs are so much a part of you.. i’m speaking of myself in particular.
i could have easily gotten caught up in that same conversation.
if anyone has a problem with something you say though.. one nice feature is that you can delete their comments.. lol

  6. i just changed churches, so i’m “in-between” youth groups right now. at my former one, i was in charge of the middle school program.

  7. Cool! Your comments are appreciated. It was definitely an easy conversation to get wrapped up in but I think in the end it worked out okay. I’m still posting regularly on their site and enjoying their content. Beliefs and the sharing of beliefs can be a VERY touchy subject even in the best of situations and on-line with a wide variety of people can be downright inflammatory!

  8. thanks, i like your site!
yeah.. i find myself igoring the posts on that particular site that i know i’m going to disagree with. lol.. and just moving to the subjects that i actually care about.. and of course, i usually disagree even in taste of shows. oh well.. i have my opinion, and everyone else has theirs.. life would be pretty boring if everyone agreed on everything.

  9. That is true! That’s one of those sites were you just have to air boldly give your opinion and ignore the consequences. -C
