Commercial

For those of you who are interested the Extreme Home Makeover show featuring the Kansas City firefighter’s house that James, his father, his crew, my brother-in-law Mike, and yours truly installed cabinets in will air this Sunday, May 8th at 7 p.m. central standard time. The How Did They Do that show will air Monday, May 9th at 7 p.m. CST.

As I’ve said before, the chances are slim that we will be on air and the chances that anyone would recognize us in a sea of blue shirts is even more remote. The thing you will notice, however, is kitchen cabinets, laundry room cabinets, bathroom cabinets, and bookcases next to the fireplace that we both hauled around and installed.

I’m excited that this is finally being aired and am still very thrilled that I had the opportunity to work on this house. It was a very special moment and is a very special memory. Thanks again James for letting me tag along!

  1. I am so glad we asked you to come along.

There is no way we would have got that house done without you and Mikee there to help.

  2. Wow! That’s pretty dang cool! How long ago did you work on the project?

  3. We started Sunday afternoon, April 3rd and ran overnight until abour 8 or 9 a.m. I posted about it after-the-fact here.

  4. Yippee! I am so excited about seeing the show. We have a great weekend coming up. Britt’s play on Saturday, Mother’s day with my family, the evening with Jason, Dawn, Mike, Abby, etc. And the fun of watching the Stephen Johnson family get their new home (which they have been enjoying for over a month).

Shameless plug: You will note that my place of employment, the University of Missouri Kansas City gave scholarships to all the Johnson children. The cost of education is so high; this will help them tremendously.

  5. hmm, that’s really neat, carl, my bro loves that show, i think i will have to sit with him and watch it so that i can point to the cabinets and yell “I know those cabinets!!”

  6. Please do! πŸ™‚ I am holding out hope that we may make it into the Monday night behind the scenes show.

  7. I’m really glad for James that things have picked up and are going so well!!!

  8. Keri and I will be watching Sunday and Monday. I’m glad you got to help out on such a great project..

  9. I’m turning in a bid to install a 15,000 square foot home worth of cabinets in Lenexa, KS.

This house has 4 kitchens including one in the master bedroom!

Can you believe this house will have $206.000 worth of cabinets in it?

It will take us 3 months to install.

The Extreme house probably has $20,000 worth of cabinets in it.

  10. A kitchen in your bedroom? I suppose if your house is that huge you don’t have the energy to walk to the main kitchen for your midnight snack. πŸ™‚
