Sorry for the absence, I spent last week rushing around trying to get my work done for this week’s trip to our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. I am attending a youth conference this week. That coupled with a loss of power at home during a storm over part of the weekend means that I’ve been absent from my site, and everyone else’s, for several days.
I just wanted to take a moment to let everyone know where I was and to announce the winners of last week’s Once Upon a Time IV Wrap Up drawing.

The winner of the awesome hand-made journal from Blackthorn Workshops is:

The winner of the book journal and the fox rider journal from Julianna Swaney is:

The winner of the Anne-Julie Aubry art pack is:

And the winner of the newly re-released Ursula Le Guin book is:
Congrats to everyone, and once again thank you all for participating in the challenge. If the winners will please email me their snail mail address to poegeek (at) gmail (dot) com I’ll get things sent out next week when I return home.
Incidentally, the opening picture is of the Gaylord Hotel here in D.C. where we are holed up for 5 days. Its NICE!!!
Have a wonderful week everyone.
Glad to hear all is well with you, hoe you had a great time in DC in spite of the heat. Sorry to hear of that power loss, though. Did you read by candle light?
Yay! Thanks so much for this Carl, I’ll email you soon.
I was wondering why you’ve been so quiet lately. Buggar about the power outage, but good to know things are all right. Enjoy the conference and D.C.
Congratulations to the winners.
And just a quick clarification from a touchy local. The Gaylord Hotel is located at the National Harbor, which is NOT in Washington, D.C. It’s in Prince George’s County, about ten miles outside the District border.
However, do make sure you get to see The Awakening, a statue that used to reside here in D.C. and which is nicknamed “The Giant” by those of us who love it. I suspect it might appeal to you.
Thank you! I’ll send you an email. Hope you have fun on your trip!
Holy Cow! Today is my lucky day!! Thanks, Carl 🙂
Hope you are having a great time on your adventure (I’m jealous) and I hope you get some relax/tourist time while in D.C.
About my lucky day continuing… I just heard from my son; he starts at NBC – page program on Monday. Life is good!!!!!
Qugrainne:
Congrats! and congrats to your son as well, that is great news! 🙂
I’m hoping to get to do some fun stuff while I’m here as well. Lot of the time is taken up with conferences, but I definitely plan on getting away and seeing the monuments.
Shelley: Great, thanks!
Sprite: Yes, true, we are actually in Maryland and not DC, but close enough. 🙂 I did get to see The Awakening, it was very fun.
Mish: I will. I’m actually looking forward to being back and for things getting back into a normal groove.
Amanda: Congrats, I hope you enjoy it.
Richard: Thankfully it was during the daytime so I was able to read most of the time with the light coming in the window. Occasionally it got reaaaally dark and then there was no reading without a flashlight.
Congrats to the winners!
Just wanted to drop in and once again say thank you for hosting the challenge Carl. It is always so much fun to join in. Looking forward to the RIP Challenge 🙂
Congrats to all the lucky winners! The prizes are incredible. I wished I could have read more for the challenge, but I enjoyed it anyway. 🙂
Congratulations to the winners of these wonderful prizes. I would love to have one of those journals too – hint, hint).
Mary: Maybe if you’d participated in the challenge, mmm??? 😉 Miss you!
Susan: I’m glad you had a good time. My reading was all over the place during the challenge so I was surprised that I read as much qualifying material as I did.
Iliana: Thanks, it is always fun to host. I’m looking forward to R.I.P. myself. Speaking of journals, any chance of Nancy Drew journals for the challenge?
Congrats to the winners! 🙂
Congrats to the winners!!
YOU’RE MARRIED !!!
What else aren’t you telling me???
Hope you’re getting to squeeze in some fun there in DC between all the meetings and such!
Congrats to all the winners!
(sound of crowd chanting:)
