You asked for it…
Well, honestly you didn’t but you are getting it anyway. The VOICE of your host, minty fresh off a recording session last Wednesday night with the host of the SF Signal Podcast, Patrick Hester, and other guests Paul Weimer, Sarah Chorn, and Aaron Sikes (with John DeNardo lurking in the background).
It was great fun. The topic was “Your Hands Down Favorite Book of 2013 and why Everyone Should Read it NOW”. We also discussed the books we were currently reading.
The show runs close to an hour and given that you probably know my tendency to blather on about things that I like from reading posts over here, my blathering in full stereoscopic sound should come as no surprise. Per usual it is painful to hear my own voice. I listened briefly and did my best not to cringe.
Let me reiterate again how much fun this was. I enjoyed discussing books with such a great and talkative panel and Patrick Hester runs a really professional podcast. I hope to be on again in the future.
Head on over to SF Signal to download the podcast or listen live directly from the site. You can live without hearing my voice, but you will miss out on some good books that you really should add to your reading list.
I thought you sounded great!
I’ve wanted to see you get onto a podcast for a while. I’m glad to see you finally get the opportunity!
Thanks, it was fun! Jeff and I are kicking around doing a few podcast episodes in support of Spectrum Fantastic Art Live, so we may be calling on your previous experience.
That’s great, Carl! I have known you for years and I guess I didn’t know what your voice sounded like. Never thought about it. haha. I hate the sound of my own voice, too.
I can imagine you weren’t thinking about it, lol. I’m happy to have finally taken the plunge and will happily do it again.
I just listened, lots of fun. Interesting how our voices don’t sound “right” to us when we hear them played back, and how other people’s voices aren’t how we imagined they would be based on their writing and photographs. I though your voice would be deeper. I thought you’d pick the latest Expanse novel.
It really is odd that way. My voice sounds much deeper in my own head which is part of the reason I’m less than fond of it when I hear it in this fashion. Drives me crazy.
The Expanse novels are great and I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t having a tough time with choosing a favorite this year, but Love Minus Eighty tops it for me although the Expanse novels and Edge of Infinity run a very close second.
Podcasts in support of Spectrum would be great.
I’m hoping Jeff and I can pull something off.
Neat to hear your voice. π
Thanks John! I’m glad it was on such a well-organized podcast instead of me just recording myself rambling on.
Now I know what your voice sounds like and can imagine it when I read your posts. Great job Carl. Hopefully there will be many, many more.
Well for that I sincerely apologize. π
Thanks, I hope to do more as well.
You did great! it was nice to hear your voice. where are you from, childhood-wise again?
I could put a body to sleep when heard in audio..okay, and maybe in person. gah, really hate to hear myself recorded as well. one of the reasons I always rethink the vlog-thing.
Thanks Leslie!
I am from Nebraska and lived in Oklahoma for about 11 years from age 18 (almost 19) before moving to Missouri. I know that occasionally I’ll throw in a y’all even after 15 years away from OK. Sigh.
That was wonderful!
I just listened to the podcast yesterday and I really liked it. Not only did you guys choose fantastic books, your voice does sound nice.
Hearing your own voice is always weird but take it from us: You sounded great! Hope they invite you back for more book discussions. π
