Borders/Waldenbooks is teaming up with the nonprofit organization First Book to get books into the hands of children who may not normally get that opportunity. In addition book lovers, they are offering 10% off your total purchase.
I am linking to 2 coupons. The first I got in my email this morning offering 10% off your total purchase plus 10% of your purchase donated to First Book. This coupon says it is good “now through August 27th”.
The other is the coupon from the site stating the same program only it says it is only good August 26th and August 27th.
First Book looks like a really good organization. They have other opportunities to give books besides this promotion. In addition to a very thorough website they also have a blog.
Unfortunately this looks to be a promotion that is only available in the U.S. So book lovers, here is just another excuse to feed the addiction!
Has this been the longest week in the annals of recorded history? Or is it just me? I cannot believe it is only Wednesday. Of course it may be that I am just exhausted from staying up late and then having my dog, Razz, freaking out all night. From the amount of heavy breathing that was going on you would think that he was getting jiggy with it all night.
(Updated with one new important piece of treasure! See end of post!)
There comes a time in every rightly constructed boy’s life that he has a raging desire to go somewhere and dig for hidden treasure.
~Mark Twain
Indeed. This boy has not stopped digging. I search for treasure everywhere and one of the most profitable dig sites of late has been the internet. Where else can one find so many people with both similar and different interests with whom to exchange the precious jewels of ideas and interests or the cherished gift of a good conversation? This is of course not the only place for treasure to be found but it is indeed a good one. Just this week I have found several nuggets in the form of posts that have thrilled me and I want to share my treasure with you.
Take a healthy dose of mythology and eastern religion, mix in the humor of Big Trouble in Little China and the buddy-cop banter of Lethal Weapon and adorn with a fantastic Jon Foster cover and what do you get? Well, you get the beginnings of an entertaining new mystery series by author Liz Williams.
Thank God its Friday! And that means it is time for yours truly to share another artists’ work that fills me with Thrills!Chills! and Excitement! It is positively Phantasmagorical! It is the work of Ryan Heshka.
