I thought I would share some of the images taken of our vacation this past week. This was our 4th annual trip to Hermann, Missouri, which is a quaint wine town situated in a valley along the Missouri River. We have fallen in love with the Hermann Hill Vineyard and Inn. For us the trip is solely about relaxing and reconnecting. Good food, good wine, good books and good movies along with a quiet appreciation of our surroundings is what we look for during these all-too-brief getaways. While gone I collected images of things to replace those lost in the most recent computer crash (lesson: back up pictures on CDs!) and also collected some images of what I would call ‘textures’ for possible use in future photography/art projects. I hope you enjoy.

Yes, I know. I am supposed to be gone. Get off of my back already will ya! I’m leaving. But before I go…
I wanted to give you an exclusive sneak peek into a new graphic novel that is coming out, Blue, written by a recent addition to the conversations over here, Elizabeth Genco with art by Finnish artist Sami Makkonen. There are two reasons it is important to post about this today. Number one (for you non-comic-book-geeks) is that Wednesday is the traditional day that new comics hit the stores here in the U.S. and so posting about comics on a Wednesday just seems like the right thing to do. Number two: you are just in time to get your order in for this book. The best place to order this is through Diamond Distributors via your local comic shop. This book is featured in this month’s Previews and the order code is:
It also looks like it may be available through Amazon for pre-order. The graphic novel is scheduled to be released in July. Meet me on the other end of this sneak peek and I will tell you more. Just a word of warning, there is a bit of adult language.
“Marriage is like pi – natural, irrational, and very important.”
~Lisa Hoffman
As the title implies, ladies and gentlemen, today is the day that marks the 19th Anniversary of the day that Mary lost all control of her senses for a few brief hours and consented before God and man to marry yours truly. Has a greater error in judgment ever been recorded? 🙂
It is not often that Mary and I get the distinct pleasure of attending a film at our favorite fine arts theatre, The Rio, but when we do we inevitably end up seeing a film that is well worth the 40 minute drive over there. This weekend was no exception–we attended Pierre Salvador’s delightful French comedy, Priceless, and left with smiles on our faces. There simply is no greater way to spend a windy, chilly afternoon than to watch a foreign film in a quaint but comfortable ‘old-timey’ theatre.
Photographers have not been near as well represented on my Friday Favorites in comparison to other artists and I discovered so many interesting photography sites a few weeks ago that I thought I would share the work of another photographer with you today: Geoffroy Demarquet. In what little searching I completed I could find little about this photographic artist beside the intriguing examples of his work…or at least little I could read since French is not my first language. Or my second…or third…or, you get the point.
I certainly do not need to speak the language to have an emotional response to his photography, however, and so I would like to share just a few of his images that I found interesting.
