If you haven’t read the previous post, concerning cultivating one’s creativity, it would behoove you to do so. That post will appear to be high culture in comparison to what you are about to partake of. You’ve been warned…twice!
Last week I celebrated the release date of Colleen Gleason’s novel, When Twilight Burns, with an announcement of another photo contest. I have to admit that I have been disappointed with the entries thus far…because I have received NONE!!! And so to tempt you…or to punish you depending on how you choose to view it, Ms. Gleason has graciously allowed me to reveal to you the pre-photoshopped cover image for this latest novel complete with the art director’s notes.
Prepare to be educated…

Yes indeed, the end results are often the product of a hard-working team of digital experts. These unsung heroes deserve our undying gratefulness. Can you image what our reading experiences would be like if publishing companies were tight fisted with the book cover budget?

A few image-enhancing tricks, a reverse of the image for aesthetic reasons, and a bit of color does wonders, doesn’t it:

Okay folks, it is your turn! Remember, you don’t have to sacrifice your dignity to enter this contest (I am vain enough to admit that I am overweight but did do a little ‘posing’ to get the gut right!). You can simply submit a photo of yourself holding the book.
Each image, creative or just your pretty mug, needs to include the book in it. You have until Sunday, August 17th at 11:59 p.m. CST to send me your image. My email address is cvincent68 (at) comcast (dot) net –substituting the ‘at’ and ‘dot’ with their corresponding symbols of course.
At stake (pardon the pun) are two prizes, one for creative images and another from those who opt for the image of self with book. The prizes for each are an ARC of the next book, As Shadows Fade, and a Vis Bulla tee shirt! Don’t delay!!!
What a modern wonder! The before and after picture. Way to put yourself out there, Carl.
If the kids weren’t traumatized enough by Jeff’s previous photo, this has definitely done it.
OMG Carl.
No premature aging or stomach aches, just out loud hysterical laughter; the dog thinks I am crazy. I told her to check it out, and she laughed too.
Well. I am sure you inspired many. Can’t wait to see the results of your giving your all.
ROFLMAO! Ok, ok, I’m submitting mine right now 😉
So that’s how they make thos sexy covers!!
I’m working on that photo, Carl.
There was only one copy of the book left at Barnes&Noble, so that must be a good thing.
I’m looking forward to it, and I hope that is a good sign!
Wow! Just wow! You are a braver man than I.
“Braver” is one word for it Cameron…”foolish”…”mad”…also come to mind! 🙂
See, I KNEW you were on the cover, just like my own photograph graced the cover of Bleeding Dusk!
Bellezza: That’s right, I forgot about that! 😉
Inspiring Carl…very inspiring!!! Okay, I’ll send in a photo…but it is not going to have nearly as much “flair!!!” 😉 If I show my hubby the photo I think he would insist that he could make his gut stick out farther, and he would absolutely have to be sure to have his favorite beer bottle in hand(very tough decision)!!! 🙂
I say ‘go for it!’. I’m certainly okay with being dethroned! 🙂
Not going to send anything in to dethrone you…you’ve got that!!! 🙂
Please? 😉
Wow. Now how’s that for motivation?
