All Hallow’s Eve

IT’S HALLOWEEN

It’s Halloween! It’s Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can’t be seen
On any other night.

Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls,
Grinning goblins fighting duels,
Werewolves rising from their tombs,
Witches on their magic brooms.

In masks and gowns
we haunt the street
And knock on doors
for trick or treat.

Tonight we are
the king and queen,
For oh tonight
it’s Halloween!

My oh my how time has flown by. The R.I.P. II Challenge, the month of black and orange and all things pumpkiny…I am amazed with the swift passage of time.

I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween. Regardless of what your plans are I hope you take the time to recall fond memories of childhood Halloween nights and if you have young ones of your own I wish you a night of creating fond memories for them.

As the week wraps up I will wrap up the R.I.P. II Challenge, including contest winners and the Grave Times Newsletter. Remember to let me know if you finished your Peril or Perils so that your name can go into the drawing for the as yet unspecified Grand Prize Pack. I need to know by midnight tonight if you’ve finished.

Happy Halloween everyone!

  1. Yeah!! I love Halloween. I’m taking my little devil and
my little pirate girl trick-or-treating tonight!!

I guess you could say I DID finish my peril. I read 4 books
from my list, as well as the bonus for Fragile Things by
Gaiman. I never did get to Dracula 🙁 And I didn’t get to
all the books on my list, but I did read one of Colleen’s books!
I’m going to try to finish Rises The Night before I go out tonight
though I doubt there will be time! But it’s all good!!

    Happy Halloween!!

  2. Hope you and yours have a fabulous time this evening as well!!!

I think(?) I already let you know that I finished my Peril. And Annie finished hers up as well (reading far more books than I, thus putting me to shame yet again).

  3. Happy Halloween everyone! The kids and I are excitedly waiting tonights trick or treating travels. My lovely wife Keri enjoys staying home and giving out the treats at our home.

I finished Peril # 1 and I’m looking forward to another edition of the Gravetimes News.

  4. Happy Halloween Carl!

yep,yep I finished by reading 4 books!! (wonders will never cease!)

remember to save me some reeses’s cups!!!!

  5. Happy Halloween!

I finished my books a month ago, but I still haven’t had a chance to catch up on my reviews. It’s sad, really! Well, I had planned to read 20 books for the challenge, but October sucked reading-wise….

It’s probably bad that I have to get dressed up for work tonight and I STILL don’t have a costume… right.

  6. Happy Hallow’s Eve, Carl. I’m so sad, this year just got away from me and Sar & I only had time enough to carve pumpkins. No costumes. 🙁

  7. I read seven books specifically for the challenge, although they weren’t all my original choices – does that matter, I wonder? Haven’t finished writing up my review, but will link when I have.

  8. I’ve had my “spooky sweets” out on the desk for the students today, and they seem to appreciate it 🙂

I’ve a RIP round-up post up on my site.

Thanks for getting it up and running.

  9. Hi. I finished the challenge. I linked to four reviews on the Ripping Yarns page. It was great fun.

  10. Hello Carl.

happy halloween. I finished peril 1 with books to spare. the reviews are on my blog. thanks for hosting and I hope I hear about this next year!

  11. I went checking and actually I did much better than I thought for the challenge!
    I did Perils I.. (4 books)

    Wizards
    The Wildwood
    Gil’s All Fright Diner
    The Company of Ogres

    Than I read 2 more!!..
The 13th Tale and The Moor!

Are you proud of me or what?!!! lol

  12. I read 9 for the R.I.P. Challenge and still have a few to go. Thanks for another great challenge and have a great All Hallow’s Eve!

  13. I only read two out of four (with one being The Historian, which is really long)! The other one was Colleen GIeasons first book. I had so much fun reading spooky stuff this Halloween season and can’t wait for RIP III! Thanks for hosting!

  14. Done! Posted my final review just now. I had a blast, Carl! Thanks for hosting another fantabulous challenge!

  15. hey carl.. anyway I can find out Kathleen’s blog address? her links in reviews doesn’t work and I can’t find her on your list.. I like alan rickman and want to read what she wrote about him lol

  16. Happy Halloween, Carl!
I have completed Peril The First. Thanks for hosting such a fantastic challenge!

  17. Happy Halloween! I finished the first peril, with a couple extra books, and I did the Short Story Sunday one. 🙂 I read a Gleason; can’t remember if that was a peril! Thanks for hosting such a fun challenge.

  18. I hope you had a great Halloween, Carl 🙂 Time dud fly by incredibly fast.

I did finish Peril the First, and added a few extras. Here’s my wrap up post.

Thank you for this great challenge!

  19. Also, sorry that I am a little late posting this (hopefully not too late!) I was out last night and I didn’t see the post until this morning.

  20. Hi Carl! This was such a fun challenge. I got to read some books I perhaps wouldn’t have read had I not done the challenge (who am I kidding? I’m quite certain I would never have read the Lovecraft) and I had been too long without some push to get real reading back into my daily life.

I did finish, doing the four on my list and extra reading, as well by reading the other two Meyers vampire books currently out.

Thanks again for this fun time. 🙂

  21. I finished and then read some extras. My wrap-up should be up, later tonight. In fact, I even finished a 9th book, this morning, but . . . oh, well. Just a day late. 🙂

  22. Carl, I thought I’d be all ahead of myself by reading seven perilous novels instead of four; alas, I can see quite a few of your ‘imbibers’ (of peril, that is) read many more. However, I enjoyed every one, most especially Something Wicked This Way Comes and Frankenstein. Thanks for being such a great host!

  23. Hi Carl, I didn’t officially join in the RIP Challenge this year but I followed along with people, read Dracula and a few very creepy short stories. I hope your Halloween was suitably ghoulish!

  24. I didn’t finish my Peril (one book short) but I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge! Thanks for hosting once again this year, Carl. I can’t wait for next year!

  25. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just finished reading The Stars My Destination. Without your post I would never have found it. It was well worth the effort of tracking down a copy.

  26. I finished my fourth book a couple of days ago but not quite in time. I had so much fun concentrating my reading on scary books. I already have a list forming for next year. Thank you Carl, once again, for an exciting challenge.

  27. Hi Carl. I just finished Ann Radcliffe’s The Mysteries of Udolpho–a little late, but I managed to finish my challenge. I throughly enjoyed reading the Radcliffe and am now very into short stories and plan on continuing reading them each weekend. Thanks for organizing the challenge! Hope you had a great Halloween!

  28. Hope all is well down there. Starting to worry about the lack of posts…

I’m so bummed! I tried and failed to finish the challenge. I came close, but didn’t finish my 4th selection before the 31st (just finished it this past week!). Thanks, nonetheless, for hosting yet another fabulous challenge.
