The Prestige

The Prestige

Mindblowing.

Thought provoking.

Fodder for much conversation once the credits roll.

Vintage Christopher Nolan.

See it, Experience it, then see it again. Don’t talk about it, don’t read anything about it, just see it .

“Are you watching closely?”

  1. Oh, sounds like it must have been good then. I have loved Nolan since Memento, so hubby and I are both anxious to see this! And we will, soon!

  2. Hurrah, The Prestige, yay! Happy to hear that other people enjoyed it too; haven’t spoken yet with anyone else who had seen it yet. One of the few book adaptations that didn’t make me angry, and that’s saying something.

  3. This movie looks really good.

I finished Mark Z. Danielewski’s “House of Leaves.” Know what that means? I finished the RIP challenge! With nine days to spare!

  4. We have to wait until November to see it. And then until January for the Illusionist. Gah.

  5. I hadn’t heard anything at all about this film, but caught the trailer a while ago. It looks great, can’t wait for November

  6. Yes, it was fun to talk about afterwords, and see the plot unfold.. but it definitely wasn’t my cup of tea.
It was much too disturbing, and no clear cut bad guy and good guy.
They were all too messed up.
I had my hopes set high, and i was definitely disappointed!

  7. I don’t think I had unreasonably high expectations for this one, just expected something worthy of Nolan’s writing talents and it definitely met that expectation. It is a dark film and I really enjoyed it.

Speaking of Pan’s Labyrinth, we saw an even better, longer trailer for it before The Prestige and it looks sooooo good.

Congrats on both finishing House of Leaves, a daunting book that I hope to read soon, and the challenge Brandon!!!

  8. Oooh! You stole my blog topic…sorta.

I’ve been dying to see this movie and I was going to post about it today, asking if anyone had.

Well, I came here first and voila!

Anyway, thanks for the review. I can’t wait to see it. I might take the afternoon off and go!

  9. I have no idea why my computer has been sending my comments twice as of late. Or is it that Carl’s computer is just printing them twice? Hmmmmm.

  10. I don’t know either Wayne. I try to catch them and delete the extraneous ones. Of course maybe everything you have to say is so important that it needs to be said twice Wayne!

  11. I’m going to have to tell the Handsome Honey about this one. Movies have been so terrible of late and we’ve been waiting rather impatiently for something to see. We both loved Memento.

  12. Angela, at our showing I didn’t think the trailers were ever going to end: We had Deja Vu, The Frountain, Pan’s Labyrinth, A Good Year, that new Will Ferrell movie…just to name a few.

  13. Okay, where do you get time to read, and blog, and work, and be with your family and see movies? Give me your secret!

  14. One of my students said very much the same thing to me today. I will have to add this to my to-see list, which is getting longer and longer. I plan to spend my Thanksgiving week holiday watching many movies and reading as much as possible.

  15. WooHoo! Keri and I have lined up my mother in law to babysit tonight so we are going to this movie. I’ll drop you our thougths on it tommarrow.

  16. Sounds good, hope you guys enjoy it. If not I’ll try not to hold it against you. 😉

  17. I wouldn’t call it mindblowing but it was a pretty good flick. I liked that their was no clear cut good guy/bad guy, I kept changing my mind about the characters as their story unfolded but none of them ever seemed to be ‘out of character’. Well written and well acted.
