Our server got a case of the uglies and had to go down briefly for a full exorcism. We are back now, but my theme was old and no longer supported by the creator, so for the moment things are going to be a bit on the simple side.
Please have patience with the look for awhile as I’m not sure when my web guru James and I will have time to mess with it. In the meantime, I will still keep up the (questionable) quality output and will continue to be grateful for your input, as always.

π Website woes suck. Hope you’re back up soon.
That they do, Tanya. Thank you!
It’s a different look, but I’m glad you’re back up.
At least it is clean. I can deal with clean while I decide where I want to go from here.
Ugg. Had that happen a few months ago. I feel for you, but glad the site itself is working.
Me too, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to James for spending so much time today getting us bug-free and running again.
I spent way too much time fiddling with my website/blog theme last year. There’s always just one element that’s not working for me. Good luck in finding the right one!
(I like the orange!)
Thanks…of course I changed it to match the Sci Fi Experience image better, lol.
Technology is grand when it’s working but can cause so many headaches. At least the sight is still up. I kinda like the simple look. Happy New Year!
It is indeed grand, and a huge pain in the tushie! Happy New Year to you too!
Carl, I lost my blog for over a week last year. Server problems are the worst! But, at least you have David Brin’s UPLIFT SERIES to keep you entertained. I really enjoyed the early books in that series.
I remember that now that you mention it. It is frustrating. But yes, spending time with Robert and Athaclena and Fiben is a comfort. Or it will be tonight after I finish the last 25 pages of Heinlein’s Assignment in Eternity. I had started reading it after opening it as a gift from Mary on Christmas Eve and put it aside after reading two of the stories in it to start Uplift War. I wanted to go ahead and go back to Heinlein while those other stories were still fresh, to finish it. I’ve really enjoyed these stories.
Maybe it was time for a change of theme anyway, the clean look is nice and a new top image would be great too. The theme I use is also old and no longer supported, but as long as nothing goes wrong it still works. There are some “great new features” that I can’t use, but then I don’t want them, so it’s all good.
Remember, it’s the CONTENT that matters the most!
Oh, it was WELL PAST time for a change in theme, no doubt about it. In fact, more than once James had set up test sites for me to mess with themes and I just didn’t take time to do it.
I’ll look around at some themes that are out there just to see what is available, but I can certainly live with this basic one for now.
And an addition, which I have said to George MANY times too (lol) is that I wish you guys had the subscribe to comments things in each post as it is too easy to forget to check back and its nice to get that email reminder. That is the one “great new feature” that I wish you both had rolling on your sites.
Carl, just curious. If you go to the very bottom of the Bullhorn page, doesn’t the Entries RSS link let you go there and then click on subscribe to feed or get by email? Check it out and let me know, okay?
…or just the RSS button in the URL window… I tried it for George’s blog and it worked, yet didn’t for yours… Hmmm.
I get your posts on email all the time, it is the replies to comments that I wish that you and George But I don’t use the RSS thing, maybe because when I did do it I found it annoying…perhaps because I wasn’t using it right. It was just a long feed of stuff from multiple places where I subscribed, rather than getting individual emails for comment like happens with the set up lots of blogs have now. RSS to me was really similar to what I have with Feedly now, which is also a nice way to look at blogs if you look at them individually, but I find it a distracting amount of information when viewed on the main page where you see everyone’s blog posts that are on your list.
When I go into RSS and then select subscribe to posts in email (there is also subscribe to comments in email) I get a separate email folder for that blog in my mail program.
Cool, I’ll have to check that out. Its been a looong time since I’ve used RSS.
Urgh, but at least the content is still there, and that’s the important thing:)
That is true, Fence. I would be devastated if I lost the content.
Ouch, too bad. I liked the old one.
Hopefully you’ll get to your “desired level” soon again.
There are things I miss about the blog, but it will be fun to find a new theme and do something new.
Coolest “technical difficulties” sign EVER.
I know, I was so psyched when I found it.
