In the last few days I have been tagged by both Angela (SciFiChick) and JenClair to do the 8 Random Things Meme.
The rules are simple, post 8 random things/habits about yourself and tag 8 others. I had in mind a post about recent acquisitions lined up for today, so I decided to have fun and combine the two. These (not-so) random pictures will no doubt reveal as much about me as would eight words-only facts. The question of whether or not I am bending the rules for this meme is not open to debate…I believe I am well within the spirit and probably the letter of the law. The real question is whether or not I can stick to just eight. Honestly, you already know the answer to that one, don’t you?
Described as “John Constatine meets Chow Yun-Fat”, the series follows the exploits of Detective Inspector Wei Chen and his demonic law enforcement counterpart, Seneschal Zhu Irzh, as they solve occultic crimes set in a near-future city called Singapore 3.
The Demon and The City is the second in this series of buddy-cop/mythological/supernatural thrillers.
… we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that’s so deeply a part of your being that you can’t even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless.

It did feel somewhat like life repeating itself this weekend. It was a little over two years ago that I spent the weekend in an orgy of geek bliss…a comic movie (Sin City) and Planet Comicon.
And this weekend it was the same, all over again…and more!
For those of you who have been sharing comments on the Poppet Planet thread: The Key is the Thing: The Art of the Symbolic, I encourage you to check out the work of photographer/web designer Thorii Pablo. You can see his work on his blog site and many more interesting photographs on his flickr site, many of which, I feel, fit into some of the symbolic, iconic imagery we are talking about in that post.
