I have been noticeably absent from posting and blog visiting the past few days due a little home construction project. While not quite as precarious as the work pictured above, it was harrowing in its own special way.
Our one and only working bathroom has had a leaky tub for some time now. It is an old house and needed to be replaced. My dad traveled down from Nebraska on Friday to do the repairs, with me along as ‘unskilled labor’.
I forgot to take a full ‘before’ picture, but this gives the basics.
You can see the window, the place we tore out the old tub, tile and sheet rock, and the old flooring. After 5 days of hard labor…. voila!!!!
Alas boys and girls, the NFL season has come to an end. And what a bitter disappointing choke job for the New England Patriots. They have looked really flat and worn out over the past few games and so this certainly didn’t come as a complete surprise. I only wished I had bet the farm on the Giants! Congrats to the NY Giants, by the way, who certainly earned the trophy with gutsy play over the last half of the season, including the playoffs. I am glad the fourth quarter ended up being exciting, with Eli Manning earning the MVP award and the victory. The ads were fun. Not as great as a few years ago, but there were certainly some enjoyable ones out there. Feel free to chat about which ones you enjoyed or hated.
And Thank You Adriana Lima for softening the blow that football is at and end and for reminded men, and women, that there is another full contact sport out there that we can engage in year round. 😉 (did I say that out loud, sorry)
It has been awhile since I have participated in any memes here at Stainless Steel Droppings, but my favorite younger reader/blogger Annie has tagged me with this clever bookish meme created by Eva of A Striped Armchair.
I came to an appreciation of Harper Lee’s classic of American Literature late in life, despite the fact that I somehow managed to get an ‘A’ in a high school lit class on this section of the course without having ever read the book. Perhaps that had something to do with the fact that I was helping the teacher with the yearbook at the time and taking American Literature as an independent study course. If I recall I also passed the tests on The Great Gatsby without reading that book either. But I digress…
