Today over on SF Signal for Short Fiction Friday I look at a number of genre fiction anthologies slated to drop in 2014. Thanks in large part to an email yesterday from editor John Joseph Adams, there is news of several anthologies of all-original science fiction that has me excited for events in the new year.
Every bit as exciting, one of those anthologies is the follow up to one of my favorite reads of the year, Edge of Infinity by Jonathan Strahan.
For those of you dying to hear the voice of your host (anyone??? Beuller…Beuller…) I want to let you know that next week the SF Signal Podcast will feature yours truly along with three other great guests as we discuss our hands down favorite book of 2013. We recorded on Wednesday night and it was great fun. Looking forward to sharing it with you next week.
Be careful out there everyone and have a great weekend. Less than two weeks until Christmas! Better get that shopping done.
You do have a face for radio!
Ain’t that the truth. I’m glad we didn’t have the video on while recording through Skype!
What? I was expecting your review of the Hobbit part two film. The newspaper review have been pretty bad, lambasting the whole project for overblown, slow scenes, invented characters and situations, etc. I’m hoping for something better from you, but we’ll see.
I don’t bother with newspaper or tv news film critics. They tend to be a bit elitist in my experience. I’ve heard great things about the film, so long as one doesn’t expect it to follow the book. As I’ve only read The Hobbit once and barely remember it, I don’t have any expectations but for a fun movie. I liked the first one and this is by all accounts I’ve read much better (again, unless one is a purist).
I’m going to see it tomorrow at noon, weather permitting.
excited!
i’m with Richard, I fully expected you to have seen the Desolation of Smaug last night and have a full no-spoilers review up this morning! 😀
I didn’t want to hassle with it tonight with the freezing drizzle expected today, and I wasn’t about to go to a midnight movie and sleep through part of it, lol!
Carl, you’re really going to enjoy THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG. I saw it yesterday. The theater was packed with Tolkien fans. Some purists will quibble about the addition of the warrior Elf, Tauriel (played by Evangeline Lilly), but not me. I have a weakness for feisty redheads wielding a deadly bow! Can’t wait to see the final installment of THE HOBBIT!
