Endings and New Beginnings

gtpic

Today marks the ending of a big chapter in our lives and turns the page to the beginning of another. This day, Friday September 27th 2013, is the last day that our daughter Tori will be living in our home*…it is also the last day that she will share our surname.

Tomorrow Tori and Grant become husband and wife.

Today will be filled with last minute wedding planning followed by the rehearsal and a wonderful rehearsal dinner at the McCarty’s. Really looking forward to that, especially as they have been hard at work expanding their back porch to create a really nice space to entertain.

I’ve been very scarce on both this site and others over the past month and this is in large part why. Pictures and a wedding report will follow.

Mary and I are looking forward to the new roles we will be playing as in-laws and are excited about watching Grant and Tori take this new step in their lives as husband and wife.

  1. I can’t believe that tomorrow is upon us!

It seems like just yesterday Tori was spending the summers at our house.

What an emotional day tomorrow will be for so many people!

    1. I know, isn’t it crazy? It was like it would never get here and now, BOOM, today is the rehearsal. Wild! Looking forward to hanging out with you guys tonight and tomorrow and appreciate all your family has sown into our daughter’s life.

    1. I’ve probably ‘officially’ been that for some time…at least since the day one of my daughter’s friends asked me what all the sparkly stuff in my beard was (gray hair) and that was many years ago. 🙂

  2. Oh my my, how very exciting for you. Wishing you beautiful weather for this awesome event!

    1. It is, Cynthia. Unfortunately after week’s of absolutely gorgeous weather there is an 80% chance of rain tomorrow. Still hopeful and prayerful. At least we are doing everything indoors!

  3. Well said, honey. I am am so happy for Tori and GrAnt (this Kindle insists on the capital a for some reason).

    1. Thanks, look forward to this next chapter in my life with you.

  4. Congrats and have fun! My daughter is Tori too! But since she’s not quite 15, I hope there’s a few more years before we are sending her out to the world! 🙂 (However, there are a couple of kids in line ahead of her, and they are coming up soon for this adventure I’m thinking!) Anyway, enjoy the experience and we’ll look forward to the picture report!

    1. Yes, let’s hope your Tori is a good ways away from tying the know. 🙂 Thanks, and best wishes on your own upcoming adventures.

  5. Well congrats to you and your daughter both. I note in the picture his chin beard thing has slipped down onto his neck. Better gee him a razor for a wedding present…

  6. Wow. I knew this day was coming, but it’s left me sort of speechless just trying to imagine how you and Mary must be feeling right now. It’s wonderful and exciting and joyful, and I’m sure there’s just a tinge of bittersweet as well. Congratulations to the beautiful couple!!! And congratulations to Dad and Mom too!

And lol–I hear you on that footnote. I’m just hoping like crazy that Rich and I aren’t both using walkers by the time our nest empties. 😛

    1. Yes, you guys do have a ways to go before that last-child-leaving day comes. It is bittersweet, but mostly sweet because she and Grant have their own future to write together and we are excited about where our life will take us now that Tori is beginning her own independent life.
