Once Upon a Time II Wrap Up

Deslily, Ken, and Chelle, I will be emailing you soon to ask a few questions about possible inclusions in your prize packs…don’t want to give you something you already have!

I want to thank you all sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, for the way you embraced this challenge. The camaraderie amongst participants and the discussions about literature and art are the greatest gifts of all reading challenges, this one included, and that would not be possible with out each and every one of you. You make this a success and make it fun, plus you give me the inspiration to keep doing it every year. Rest assured we will be back next spring with Once Upon a Time III and I hope to see you all there. And don’t forget:

(It is really R.eaders I.mbimbing P.eril, but that is what fit on the image last year)

I hope to see you then. Despite your busy weekends please tune in tomorrow (I’ll be sending out an email) for an important announcement about the coming week’s festivities that will honor the memory of someone very special in the blogging community.

Until then:

β€œThe Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.”

  1. Congratulations to all the lucky winners!!!

And sincerest thanks once again, Carl, for providing us all with such a wonderful, magical time!

  2. Congratulations to Corrine!!!

You are too kind!.. very unnecessary, this is the one challenge that joining wasn’t an option lol… but thank you!!!

  3. Fun wrap up, Carl! I love the newspaper bit by MIss Enchanted, lol!!! and the final links to wonderful fantasy sites. Congratulations to the winners, and from being a past winner, I can tell you the prize packs are so fun! As well as just the joy of winning! We all win with our reading challenges. Thanks so much for hosting this one, Carl.

  4. For those of you who are planning on R.I.P. reading, I feel your pain. I’m jonesing for that kind of reading already and summer has not even begun! No doubt I’ll roll out some info about it late in October. And although I’ve been promising it forever I still intend to bring a little bit of fall into the summer by actually finishing up the contests from last R.I.P. Challenge and awarding those prizes…soon!!!

  5. I seriously told my daughter it had to be a joke – then I read it twice and apparently it’s TRUE : ) THANK YOU CARL for hosting this fantastic challenge and for offering such unique give aways. I’ll definitely be joining you in your next adventure πŸ™‚

  6. Wonderful challenge! Congrats to all the winners as well. I can’t even think about my RIP reading yet! I do hope that is a misprint that you’ll be talking about it in October. Maybe a bit more advance warning?

  7. Carl does give great prizes. I was very excited to get mine last year. πŸ™‚ Congrats to the winners. I am getting myself my own prize pack when I get off work to celebrating actually finishing a challenge. haha

  8. Congratulations to all the winners! And a huge thank you, Carl, for being such a terrific host.

  9. Carl,I noticed something odd today when I visited. In my firefox browser your header didn’t show up. I thought it was odd, so I switched to the IE render engine and Viola!, there it was. Switched back to Firefox and gone. Not sure why, or even if it’s something you want to address, but I thought I would let you know. ;p Oh, I am still using Ver2 and haven’t downloaded Firefox 3, so I don’t know if it shows up in that or not.

  10. You better believe me ” that ” won’t be the next RIP Banner. I tell you; you send Carl one little photo and he never lets an opportunity slip by to post it over and over again. I’m beginning to think he likes seeing my big hairy gut. I’m sure Colleen’s husband has had a restraining order issued keeping such a crazed fan as myself atleast 500 feet away from his wife. Poor Annie shouldn’t be subjected to that image over and over again. We have no idea of the long term effects it could have on her or any other of the challenge participants πŸ™‚ Of course I’m aleady hatching an idea for the next contest. Oh, what a fool I am.

In all seriousness Congrats to all the winners! The challenge has been a lot of fun and I really love reading everyone’s review’s. Thanks Carl you’re a great host and even better friend!

  11. Astaryth, I use the latest version of Firefox and it works fine so that may be the issue with yours. Sorry that it is happening. Sounds like a typical bit of computer nonsense.

Jeff, that picture will never die my friend…never!

Oops…yes, that is a misprint. Just wishing the time away. That would be late August, not October. Doh! Thanks Melanie!

  12. Congrats to the winners – Carl thanks for the opportunity to delve into magic, myths and princesses again. Have already started a list for next years πŸ™‚

I will be joining the RIP challenge – will have to start looking into what I have in my TBR pile – and what I might want to read from other people’s suggestions. RIP is always a challenge for me as I hate being scared πŸ™‚

  13. ARGH! I find the end of Once Upon a Time depressing (even if a winner!) It is so hard for me to go to the link page and not find a group of new books to read the reviews on! I have read everyone of the 475 reviews, even if I didn’t comment on them all…and it’s a let down not to have them each day .. boo hooo! I think you should do something about that Carl! LOL…

  14. I’m sorry Deslily. I do encourage people to keep posting their fantasy/fairytale/folklore/and mythology book review links there. I wish it would keep going like that over the year, that would be fun!

Kaite: I hope you participate next year and in this fall’s R.I.P. Challenge. I try to have as much fun with that one as I do with this one.

  15. What a great wrap-up post! This challenge has been so much fun and I can’t wait for RIP ’08. Thanks again for selecting me for A Major Award!!!

  16. Congratulations to the winners and thank you for hosting the challenge! I found this challenge to late to participate but I am looking forward to participating in the next challenge. Thanks!

  17. Yay for all you lucky winners!!!

This was so much fun; can’t wait for the next round. Thanks again, Carl. You rock!

  18. Thank you for hosting these challenges for the past 2 years, Carl. Looking forward to more down the years – even if I don’t get to finish them every year!

    Congratulations to all winners.

Never thought I would see that banner with Jeff again. πŸ™‚

  19. Congrats! I finished the challenge but didn’t get a chance to tell you in time to be eligible for the prizes. I look forward to the RIP challenge.

  20. So my pingback made it here before I did. Sigh… πŸ™‚

Thank you for allowing us all to take part in such a wonderful challenge, Carl. And on a personal note, thank you for your comment over on my last post. I was a little on the edge and your kind words had me choking up. I really, truly appreciate it. Thank you, again, so much.
