I have been touched by that summer vixen, kissed and caressed in places both public and private. Her touch is heat, and is a constant reminder of her presence, whether I can see her or not. She possesses me, and her mark signifies her ownership. I burn, I ache, I pine…she is ever present in my mind yet I yearn for release. All my thoughts are now turned to her. She has given occupation to my eyes, my hands, my fingers, my desire. I have nothing left to give to you.

If I can ever stop scratching, I may post again. 😉
That was really hot until you mentioned Poision Ivy! Shudder. I’m starting to itch just thinking about it!
That’s one thing that I have never had to experience before. I don’t think it even grows near where I live.
lol, very creative post.
Utoh..got the itchies huh? Poor baby!
When i was a kid, I lived in a multifamily home. the neighbors had a bunch of kids.. one in particular, named Walter. If the wind shifted in the summer this poor guy got poison Ivy! Even in his eyes!
Whereas I’d go rub the leaves all over my hands hoping to get out of school and never catch it!
(I wouldn’t try that anymore LOL)
I haven’t had poison ivy since I was a Girl Scout. I don’t even think I could remember how to recognize it!
eeek, not good! Hope you stop itching soon!
See, stories about poison ivy and giant insects are the reason I’m so very glad I live in Ireland 🙂
Fence: That picture will give me nightmare! Makes me glad of my little corner of the world too!
Get better soon, Carl!
If I didn’t know what this was really about I’d have to say your post got me all hot and bothered. As it is I offer my condolences – hope the itch eases. 🙂
Oh that sucks! Hope it’s gone soon Carl…I have to agree with Carrie…”that was hot until you mentioned Poison Ivy”
You should start writing romance novels:
Nora Roberts: Romance
Colleen Gleason: Paranormal Romance
Carl V.: Botany Romance
Awww… hope the itch passes soon.
Poor Carl!! My mom and my husband are super allergic to it. Me, I’ve never
had it….KNOCK on WOOD! Of course, when I was little, I played in a big patch,
and nothing! Hope you feel better soon.
Now…I’m off to see Harry Potter!
well written you poor bastard! get better soon!
I thought you meant prickly heat until halfway down!
We don’t have poison ivy here, but I’ve heard stories. Feel better soon.
Poor guy. It really is miserable to have.
That sucks- but on the plus side you got to post some Bruce Timm art!
Ooh, that sucks! I think this may be one of those things for which oatmeal baths are supposed to be soothing, though…
How awful! Summer certainly comes with a mixture of positives and negatives. Poison ivy sounds like it would awful to have. Hope your is short-lived.
I’m sorry to hear you’re still suffering. I’ve been doing more yard work this year and live in fear of another battle with the horrible weed (in the northwest corner of the yard).
argh, the unrelenting beotch! I hear Zanfel is supposed to truly kick some ivy keister.
Man, I hear ya! I picked blackberries and came home with a mess of itch. My arm is a boily inflamed ivy patch, soothed with calamine. 😛
Thanks for all the well-wishes everyone. I am truly NOT enjoying the intimate relationship with poison ivy that I am currently experiencing. The fact that I am not sure where I got into it also bothers me…does this mean I don’t have to mow anymore for the rest of the summer? 😉
Oh Carl…that truly sucks! Hope she takes her leave soon!
Chris–“Botany romance”…I think you’ve left me giggling for the day.
Well call me a blonde bombshell but I never did get it. I just thought you were horny.
Tom….(shakes head).
Not mow for the rest of the summer?
Well, you do have a daughter old enough to mow…
And I hope you’re feeling better soon!
I’m all for not mowing any more this summer! 🙂
ARG!!
i totally misunderstood – i initially thought that the “summer vixen” was your passion for reading! why i thought that i don’t know…! charlotte had to explain to me that you meant the real poison ivy. i think i thought you meant that reading had got you like poison ivy, the character, does.
that sounds terrible, though…
i hope it heals soon!
Tom…I was a little slow too…at first I thought “well I wonder what Mary’s gonna think about this post?!” :p
Although poison ivy is not a good thing it does seem to provoke a very sensual sideof your writing.
Good post.
Bad ivy.
Get well soon!
Angela has a point. . . Once I turned twelve, I did all of the yard work. Of course, you don’t want poor Tori to get the nasty stuff, too.
Ivy-Dry (it’s in a spray bottle) and hydrocortison cream are the best combination I’ve found for itch relief and I think it helps it heal up, as well. I typically get the stuff every year and that’s what the nurses told Tom to tell me to use.
You all will have to forgive me for going there, but…
In response to your comment, Michelle, I would have to say that the amount of time I’ve had to spend applying anti-itch cream to my more…sensual…areas no doubt helped fuel the ridiculously sensual post!!! 😉
That is funny, JP. I was actually wondering how many people would know who the character of Poison Ivy is and if maybe the picture was too much of an obscure reference to what I was trying to say.
I need to start combining the Ivy Dry with the calamine lotion, Jules. It is really helping the itching but isn’t drying it up as fast as I would like. And every time I turn around I have more cropping up on me. Its like a really unpleasant adventure, seeing where I will have poison ivy next!
I hope you’re starting to feeel better. It sounds like you had a very bad dose. How miserable. Had you ever had poison ivy before or is this your first experience with it? And I certainly hope it will be your last.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. I’m sorry, but I’m still smiling. I know I shouldn’t be, you ARE suffering. I’m really sorry, Carl …snicker, snicker.
I’m laughing at the way you presented it, not your misery!
Sure, JenClair! 😉 I put it up so people could laugh at…with…my misery!
Oh dear! LOL at Chris though – botany romance indeed!
Misery loves company, and Poison Ivy apparently loves Carl 😉
(Sorry Carl, I hope you are feeling better, but this thread is a gem.)
Chris, any chance you’ll be incorporating botany romance into your NaNoWriMo story? 😀
We’ll leave the botany romance writing to Carl 😉 he seems quite skilled. Hope things are getting better Carl! What a pain!
Not yet, but they will be. Thanks! 😉
Keep an eye out for my vegetation skin rash erotic poetry collection coming to garden centers and farmer’s markets near you.
That’s the funniest description of Poison Ivy I’ve read.
I hope you’ve invested in calimine and oatmeal baths.
cjh
the mind boggles at how bruce timm manages to embue his characters with such depth even though they are such stylised and simplified renditions…!
you know? ’cause thats not how i picture poison ivy, and yet that is DEFINITELY poison ivy. how does he do it? amazing.
very cool picture.
i hope the itch has abated…!
“Keep an eye out for my vegetation skin rash erotic poetry collection coming to garden centers and farmer’s markets near you.”
You have me in stitches over here, lol
Ohhh! ME too!!
Just before I went to my conference, I took the kids biking. My daughter spilled off the trail into the edge of the forest, and I was kneeling next to her, offering comfort when my son said, “Mom, is that poison ivy?”
“No,” I said, looking where he was pointing. Then I looked down. “But that is.”
UGH!
Stop itchin soon!!
