As I announced yesterday, Jeff and Pat were the big contest winners. Here are their prizes:
(For Jeff)

(For Pat)

They won’t get these until this afternoon. What say we open them up and see what they’ve won! Shall we? Lets!
Pat and Jeff, you are forbidden beyond this point until after you have claimed your prizes.
Ready? I feel like it is Christmas! As Ty Pennington would say, “Let’s Do It!!!!”
As I said, my prizes have to be personalized in some way. And since this was about books, books had to be involved. After picking out the perfect books I then dipped into my Audrey Hepburn treasure box (a long cherised gift from a good friend) and pulled out some extra goodies.
Jeff’s prize for guessing closest to the number of books I had completed is:

Like me Jeff is something of a Gaiman completist. This latest edition of Stardust just hit bookstores. In edition to the original text there are ‘extras’ including a prologue, an interview with Neil Gaiman, and a pictured bibliography. Also included in the prize pack was the recently mentioned Dave McKean illustrated version of Ray Bradbury’s classic short story The Homecoming. And since Stardust is about faerie I had to include a bookmark that seemed to fit the mood, art by Tom Kidd. And of course every reader needs to have a bit of chocolate sometimes.
(The image of a journey on the wrapping of Jeff’s gift is no accident. The journey motif is present in both of these books and the picture is by Charles Vess whose magical artwork graces the illustrated version of Stardust).
And Pat’s prize for guessing exactly the number of books in that pile that I started but hadn’t finished, 8, is:

I reviewed Kate DiCamillo’s enchanting book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane here. I just know Pat will love this book. In edition there is a wonderful card by the artist Charles van Sandwyk, a bookmark of sorts with art by a local Kansas City artist whose name I cannot recall, and of course chocolate! Though you may not see it there is a symmetry to all these items.
Now that you’ve seen these, are you ready for the next contest???
If so, read the post above this one!!!! (Edited from previous post)
For those wondering, the comments you made regarding these prizes are in the post above this one…I split out the contest/challenge portion of the post to make linking to it easier and left the comments there.
I assure you that both winners loved their prizes!!!!
I loved them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love mine also. I love Kate DiCamillo’s books and magical cards. Carl, your presentation is so creative, as usual. Thank you.
