Yes I Am!!!
In true championship fashion the two-time defending Superbowl Champion New England Patriots defeated Randy “Look at me, look at me” Moss and the Oakland Raiders 30-20 to open the 2005-2006 NFL season. And it couldn’t come soon enough!
This summer has been one of personal struggle for co-workers and extended family members which have profoundly effected us and made the summer seem longer and much more taxing than previous summers. While some of the situations continue I personally find it comforting that fall is on its way and we as a family will be able to spend more time enjoying the outdoors and allowing the beauty of God’s creation to assist with some much needed healing.
And football is a part of that process. I like no sport as much as professional football and I’m so thankful it is finally here! The love of this sport goes back to the 3rd grade when I picked up my copy of Boy’s Life magazine with Roger Staubach on the cover and immediately became a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Living in Kansas City I have of course become a Chiefs fan but I still have a soft spot for the Cowboys and actually like a number of other teams as well. I’ve taken a break from fantasy football this year and am planning on just watching for the fun of the game this year and recharging for a possible return next year.
I’m off to Tulsa to visit a few friends and will return late Monday night. If you don’t hear from me before then, that is why. Have a great NFL opening weekend everyone and my condolences to the football widows.
Thank you for the condolences.
My hubby grew up in the Bay Area, is a Raiders fan through and through,
so he’s not a happy camper today.
I’ll miss him these next 5 months or so. Sigh…. 😉
GO PATS!!!
As a life long Chiefs fan I was so happy to see the same ole Raiders show up last night. I agree with Carl that football is my favorite sport and I’m so happy the regular season has begun. I can pretty much watch any team. I just love football. I also have a soft spot for the cowboys of old. I can’t stand the modern day Jerry Jones team. He’s just an owner the rubs me the wrong way. It’s that ” Look at Me ” mentality ala Randy Moss, Terrel Owens, Joe Horn, etc.
Have a great weekend in Tulsa, Carl!
Ditto what Nat says…
Four’s the magic number!!!
No, to answer your question. (I’m not ready.) Never really was.
i hate football. but my friends made me watch which them last night. oh well.. at least the colts won, so i didn’t have to listen to any swearing! lol
Chiefs win!
Ah Rob, you don’t know what you’re missing!
Congrats to the Chiefs…now if they could just sustain it! Got to watch the game in Tulsa with Eric and it was quite fun. Good to be talking and watching football again!
I am a huge Cowboy fan – I thought Danny White was cute (OK, I was 7 at the time).
I was glad to see the Cowboys knock off the Chargers in week 1, because I like the Cowboys and also because it helps the Chiefs.
Interesting that you like the Cowboys so much, as I lived in TX for 10 years and was in college in Fort Worth when they won their three Superbowls. That was fun to be around. My Ex is a huge Cowboys fan, so every Sunday was spent around their game.
I’m one of the few Cowboys fans I know from long ago who continued to be a fan despite being miffed about what they did to Tom Landry. I’m not a fan of Jerry Jones, but I do still like the ‘Boys
