Fish Tea, Swearing and an early goodbye to September

September is on the way out the door and October is rocking on the front porch, waiting for his moment to begin. Soon I’ll be bringing you a teaser calendar for some of the fun R.I.P.ing events set to occur in October. For now, on this last Monday in September, I encourage you to sit down to a fine fish tea, swear liberally, and remember:

Someday is today.

  1. You know, this started out as one of those days that are balanced on the edge – it could be good or it could slip over and be rotten…your post and Karine’s song grounded it solidly on the good side, thanks my friend…

  2. Stephanie: I heard about Karine Polwart on the old Endicott Studio site and became an instant fan. Her music is wonderful and I particularly like this song. It is a really cute video with a simple but powerful message.

Ken: I’m glad to hear it. It is a bit rainy here today and I had been listening to this song over the weekend and couldn’t resist sharing it. It certainly doesn’t need a lot of exposition around it, it pretty much speaks for itself.

  3. Okay, first you post a Missy Higgins video, then a Karine Polwart one, if you listen to Kate Rusby as well, I’ll be seriously impressed. πŸ˜‰

  4. You should be impressed Bart, of the three I’ve been on much more of a Kate Rusby kick lately. Just watched the multi-part music interview with her the other day on You Tube, which is fantastic, and have been catching all I can of her stuff on You Tube. Of the three she has the most videos on my You Tube playlist!!!

  5. Don’t get too excited, I no doubt like stuff that people would think is absolute crap as well! Ha! I just like a lot of different kinds of music. But singer/songwriter stuff, particularly women like Katrina, Missy, and Kate are among my favorites for sure.

  6. LOL, we all have some music we hide behind the good stuff I’m sure! πŸ˜€ I have however been to see Kate Rusby, live a time or two now, and she’s even better live. (In fact she’s in my home town over Christmas and I’m trying to be good and not succumb, but I’ll probably fail!)

  7. Bart: Oh no, don’t be good! At the very least you need to go in my stead since I won’t be getting over there to see her! I enjoy listening to the live videos of all three of these women…I love it when someone sounds at least as good if not better live than they do when professionally recorded.

  8. What a lovely, clear voice Karine has, and such a beautiful song. One of the (many) perks of childhood, is one has plenty of opportunity to do stuff “someday.” We, on the other hand, do not have quite as much time for that! Though our brains are not wired to love change, it is a good thing once we make the decision to do something new or different, or set some new goals to strive for.
As Obie Yadgar would say, “Today is a moody and introspective day” (in a radio voice I can’t quite imitate). I love fall days like that – a little chill so you are encouraged to walk quickly, wearing a light jacket, dark and light clouds rolling across the sky, the leaves starting to turn color. Lovely.

  9. I love the video! Completely new to me and really quite delightful. Can’t wait to see the list of RIP events! I’ll be dropping you an email tomorrow if the light is better and I can take some photos!

  10. Quixotic: I’m glad you enjoyed it and am thrilled that I got to introduce to you such a wonderful artist. I look forward to getting that email from you.

Qugrainne: Yes she does. I couldn’t agree more that time is a factor as an adult as is resistance to change, but we have to try, don’t we? We gotta LIVE!!! πŸ™‚

  11. I’m glad you liked it Jeff, it is a great video. Next time you see Mary ask her to tell you her story regarding it.
